Found in the East Atlantic from the Barents Sea and Iceland to the Bay of Biscay. Likewise from the Northern North Sea to Southwest of Ireland.
Bathypelagic species found at depths of 140-1400 m but more commonly found at depths of 200-600 m. Feeds on planktonic invertebrates and small fish.
Caught as intended and as by-catch in mixed trawl fisheries.
