DISTRIBUTION
Found in the North-east Atlantic from the Barents Sea and Iceland to the western coasts of the Iberian Peninsula, across the North Sea and the West of British Islands.
ECOLOGY
Demersal species found between 10 to 450 m on sandy and rocky substrates. It feeds on fish, crustaceans, molluscs, echinoderms and polychaetes.
FISHERIES
Primarily caught by demersal trawlers but also by longlines, gillnets and seiners.
DID YOU KNOW
Haddock is easily identified by a distinctive dark blotch on both sides above the pectoral fin often described as a "thumbprint".
